Poker Smartcard May Hit Australia
If you live in the land down under and you’re considered a problem gambler, there is a good possibility that in the future you may be required to use a poker smartcard if you want to play poker machines in any of the casinos in Australia. The new Gambling Minister is considering the merits of a mandatory smartcard system being introduced, which would enforce spending limits and track poker machine habits on anyone who is considered problem gambler.
Paul Caica is considering anything what he calls “harm minimization” something that his predecessor Michael Wright rejected last year. While the new Gambling Minister hasn’t said that smart cards are definitely the way to go, he is interested in any options being considered that could lead to harm minimization….
