New Poker Room at the Venetian
The glamorous Venetian casino and resort joins the crowd of Las Vegas Strip resorts adding or renovating poker rooms to their casino offerings. Anyone familiar with the elaborate fantasy world found within the Venetian won’t be surprised at the prize tag of the new room, ringing in at $2.6 million for the 11,000 square foot space. This is not the first poker room at the Venetian, which sported a small one back in 1999 when they first opened their doors, followed by a ten table room a few years later, but with the surge in poker popularity growing still, it is likely this one is here to stay.

Poker glossary:
- MANIAC - A player who bets, raises and reraises without regard to the quality of his hand. Most often found in flop games.
- TOP TWO PAIR - In flop games, having hole cards that make the highest possible two pair hand.
- MUCK - [1] A collection of face-down cards near the dealer composed of discards, i.e., folded hands, burns and discards for drawing purposes. [2] To throw one's cards into the muck, thus folding.
- EVEN-MONEY - A bet that pays off exactly the amount wagered. E.g., "Double or nothing" is an even-money bet.
- NICKEL - Five dollars, usually represented by a red casino check.
- MITES AND LICE - A hand consisting of two pair, threes over twos.
