One of the world’s largest poker rooms was opened to the poker-playing public last week, as Foxwoods completed the expansion of its existing facility to now house a total of 114 tables. The newly-minted World Poker Tour (WPT) poker room also received welcome technological upgrades, now featuring an automated seating system, tabletop touch-screen computers, and automatic card shufflers, which can serve more than 1,000 players simultaneously.

Helping to realize the poker-playing ambitions of hearing-impaired people nationwide, six deaf men have put together the National Deaf Poker Tour. The tour, which aims to have three major tournament events a year, hosted its inaugural event yesterday at the Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Around 200 hard-of-hearing individuals ponied up $100 apiece to enter the No-Limit Texas Hold ‘em tournament.
