One of the world’s largest poker rooms was opened to the poker-playing public last week, as Foxwoods completed the expansion of its existing facility to now house a total of 114 tables. The newly-minted World Poker Tour (WPT) poker room also received welcome technological upgrades, now featuring an automated seating system, tabletop touch-screen computers, and automatic card shufflers, which can serve more than 1,000 players simultaneously.

 

As big as No Limit Texas Hold’em has become, many professional poker players are against the use of this high-drama poker game as the representative of the best in the game. No Limit Texas Hold’em is the game used in the championship event at both the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour, and will likely continue to be so as it is such a powerful draw for non pros. The Honeymoon Capital of the World will be offering newlyweds a chance to go all in and perhaps win a princely dowry. The Niagara Falls Open, which will take place in the fall during the month of October, will be held at the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel and will be part of the International Poker Association’s 2006-2007 tournament schedule. Helping to realize the poker-playing ambitions of hearing-impaired people nationwide, six deaf men have put together the National Deaf Poker Tour. The tour, which aims to have three major tournament events a year, hosted its inaugural event yesterday at the Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Around 200 hard-of-hearing individuals ponied up $100 apiece to enter the No-Limit Texas Hold ‘em tournament.
