The Ahwatukee Swim & Tennis Center staff hopes to get a full house at a poker fund-raiser at 7 p.m. April 21 to pay for park improvements and a new shade structure at the center’s pool.

That seemed to be the credo of hit poker series Celebrity Poker Showdown this week, as Phil Hellmuth was handed the reigns to co-host the show, which just saw Phil Gordon depart for greener pastures. And speaking of charity, Hurricane Katrina-ravaged New Orleans will be the locale for the series’ eighth poker tournament, and all participating celebrities will be trying to earn money for causes benefiting victims of the natural disaster.
