Poker Festival Hits Manchester United Territory

A seven day festival offering a prize pool guaranteed for at least one million dollars US will be visiting the place Manchester United calls home in June. Professional poker players and hobbyists alike are expected to compete in the week long tourney, with five different events to keep all parties interested.

Texas Hold’em, SHOE and Omaha will be the games to play, and a gala dinner, free buffets every day and tour of the Old Trafford Stadium are the draws of the poker festival. Players should expect some high stakes cash games as well, a routine event at big tournaments…

  • FORCED BET - In some stud games a player may be required to make a bet to start the action on the first card. This is similar conceptually to blinds and antes, but in this case is dependent on the cards shown rather than player position. Usually the weakest hand is forced to bet.
  • ANTE - A small bet all players are required to make before a hand is dealt. Not all games have an ante. Related terms: BLIND, FORCED BET.
