Woman Poker Player Magazine a Class Act
Just like online poker sites that seem to pop up every few days, poker magazines are also getting to be a crowded commodity, the latest of which caters to a segment of the poker playing population, the women players. Woman Poker Player Magazine is the name, and the aim is to provide a quality magazine that focuses on the woman’s experience in the world of poker without resorting to male bashing.
The editor of the mag, Barbara Enright, could have chosen a different track; as a professional poker player she has seen the best and worst of how women are treated at the poker table in a game that has long been dominated by the men. The magazine, however, seems to take higher ground, focusing on good writing and layout, bringing on professional poker players and writers who know their stuff….

Poker lingo:
- QUALIFIER - A minimum standard that a hand must meet in order to win. Usually applied to the lowball side of a high-low split pot.
- TOKE - Gambling term for "tip", as in "Toke the cocktail waitress". Comes from the term "Token of appreciation".
- FREEZE-OUT - A table-stakes game that continues until a small number of players (possibly only one) has all the money. The major event in The World Series of Poker is a freeze-out game.
- HIGH-LOW SPLIT - Forms of poker in which the pot is split between the best hand and best lowball hand.
- CAP - To cap the betting is to make the last permitted raise in a round.
- DEAD MAN'S HAND - Generically: two pair, aces and eights. Specifically: the black aces, black eights and nine of diamonds. The hand Wild Bill Hickok was holding when he was shot to death.
