Jeff Gordon Foundation Poker Classic Ends

The master of ceremonies for the just-completed NBC National Heads-Up nearly walked away the champion of the Jeff Gordon Foundation Poker Classic, just getting beat out by an Ace on the River. Ali Nejad was beaten by Mike Sugg, who is the first champion of the Jeff Gordon event, a charity poker tournament co-hosted by Gordon and 2003 World Series of Poker champion Chris Moneymaker.

Moneymaker also played in the tournament, making it to the final table and busting out in fifth place, continuing to show his poker chops. The timing of the event nicely coincided with the Sam’s Town 300 NASCAR race in Las Vegas, giving plenty of racing fans a chance to play with and mingle with racing legend Gordon…

  • RAKE - Money taken from each pot and given to the house in return for hosting the game. Usually a percentage of the pot (5%-10%) up to some maximum amount.
  • WHEEL - A-2-3-4-5. Usually discussed in the context of lowball where it is the best possible hand. Can also refer to a 5-high straight in high games. Also: BICYCLE.
