Current World Series of Poker (WSOP) Champion Joe Hachem has confirmed his participation in the New Zealand Poker Championships. Hailing from Australia, New Zealand is just a short flight away for the poker champ. - SPREAD LIMIT - A variation on fixed limit wherein the minimum and maximum bets are different. A 1-4-8 game allows bets from 1 to 4 in the early rounds and 1-8 in the last round. A 1-4-8-16 game allows bets from 1 to 4 in the early rounds, 1 to 8 in the next-to-last round, and 1 to 16 in the last round.
- TOP TWO PAIR - In flop games, having hole cards that make the highest possible two pair hand.
- HOUSE RULE - Rules and interpretations (e.g., use of wild cards, or rules on having to show beaten hands) that are specific to an establishment or even tables within the establishment.
- SHORT-STACKED - Playing with a only a small amount of money, thus limiting one's risk and reward.
- RUSH - A winning streak. Also "ON A RUSH".
- OVERPAIR - In Hold'em, a pair in the hole that is larger than any community card on the board.
