In 2005 there was a lot of movement in the poker industry, with new poker sites being created and launched, poker affiliates coming out of the woodwork, old poker companies of a few years going public and battling out in court over issues; thats not counting the actual games of poker being played and the money made from poker TV and advertising. This year promises much of the same and is a pivotal year for poker in the UK, with the 2005 poker and gambling legislation going into effect in 2007, allowing online poker companies to be based in the UK, the state of poker will be under close scrutiny by the people of the United Kingdom.. …

Poker slang:
- STUCK - Down a nontrivial amount of money, as in "he's stuck $800".
- LOWBALL - Generic term for poker where the lowest hand wins.
- NICKEL - Five dollars, usually represented by a red casino check.
- RAIL - A barrier dividing the card playing area from a public area.
- LATE POSITION - For a particular betting round, a player who does not have to act until most of the other players have acted.
- BELLY BUSTER - An inside straight draw. Same as GUTSHOT.
