Matt Birney, the Western Australian Opposition Leader, revealed a meeting with the PBL chief James Packer while he was in Perth this week hopping to drum up support for poker machines by lobbying at the Burswood Casino. Packer had met with Premier Alan Carpenter on Monday (February 13th) in what turned out to be a failed effort to get the government to reverse its ban on traditional poker machines.
