Poker Run planned at fairgrounds
MESHOPPEN - Featuring a bit of luck and a bit of skill, the Meshoppen Volunteer Fire Company’s second annual ATV Poker Run will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds in Meshoppen.

Poker jargon:
- STRAIGHT - A hand consisting of 5 cards in sequence but not in suit.
- STEAM - Playing wildly, calling and raising a lot, because one is upset. Compare: ON TILT.
- GUT SHOT - A draw to an inside straight, as in 2-3-4-6.
- HOUSE RULE - Rules and interpretations (e.g., use of wild cards, or rules on having to show beaten hands) that are specific to an establishment or even tables within the establishment.
- PAT - Holding or being dealt a pat hand. "I'm pat" would mean "I don't want to draw any cards.
- SPLIT [THE POT] - To split the pot between two or more players. Related term: QUARTER.
