Patriotic Poker Run Called Off Due To Blizzard
In a continuing effort to grant US soldiers some time with family and friends, Operation Give a Soldier Wings set up a poker run hoping to put a dent in the $15,000 needed to meet their goal of around $75,000. When the snow started to fall it was questionable whether anyone would show, but eleven motorcycle riders did brave the weather to make the poker run Saturday. However, when the elements became too dangerous, they were called back, notified that the poker run was to be rescheduled.
The goal of the operation is to charter a plane and give 150 members of Battery C, 1 st Battalion of the 142 nd Field Artillery Brigade a four day leave before they ship out for a tour in Iraq that will last one year….
