Irish Poker Game With 1 Million Prize Pool
Paddy Power, the Irish online gaming and poker site, recently announce that the qualifying events have gotten underway for the Irish Open. A longstanding poker tournament in Europe, the Irish Open will be celebrating 25 years in the running, and for the celebration the Irish Open is going to hold the first event on Irish soil with a prize pool of 1 million.
The Irish Open will begin April 15th and will be held along with Paddy Power and PaddyPowerPoker.com, an online poker room. 50,000 of the total event prize purse is being contributed by Paddy Power, which is hosting satellite events where interested players can win their way into the Irish Open rather than paying the buy in of 3,200 for the main event….

Poker argot:
- BET FOR VALUE - Betting a hand that, in the long run, is expected to win more than it loses. Antonym: BLUFF.
- BET - To put money into the pot, pursuant to the rules of the game, thus maintaining a chance of winning the pot.
- RERAISE - To raise after an opponent has raised.
- PROP - Also PROPOSITION PLAYER. An employee of the gaming establishment whose primary purpose is to keep enough players at a table to prevent breaking up the game for lack of players. Unlike SHILLs "props" make a small hourly wage but play with their own money, winning or losing based on their skill.
- BURN - To discard the top card of the deck prior to dealing, usually done for every dealing round except the first. The theory being that if somehow the cards are marked (illegally) no one will know what card will next be dealt, only what card will be burned. This makes marked cards less of an advantage, hence tends to reduce cheating.
- DEAD MAN'S HAND - Generically: two pair, aces and eights. Specifically: the black aces, black eights and nine of diamonds. The hand Wild Bill Hickok was holding when he was shot to death.
