Poker continues to flourish on both television and in the casinos, but it is continuing to have problems when it comes to the legal arena….
The Small Town Poker Tour has done a good job of marketing itself, using press releases, convention announcements and their own website to let the world known of their unique approach to the mobile poker tour. The STPT seeks to find the best poker player of an amateur nature by holding events in small towns across the county, sharing proceeds with local charities along the way. An outreach of the tournament, the European Small Town Poker Tour, is getting underway and the organizers have announced the first stop on the European tour.
The Borgata Winter Poker Open saw 381 poker players fork up $10,000 to participate in the No-Limit Texas Hold ‘em main event. The World Poker Tour (WPT) event in Atlantic City drew some of poker’s biggest names, such as Phil Ivey, Scotty Nguyen, Eric Seidel, David Williams, and Daniel Negreanu. After four days of play, however, there was only one player left standing, one of poker’s hottest new faces, Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi.
Vice Chief of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Larry Blythe has revealed in interviews with the Asheville Citizen-Times that the governor has said no to the idea of live poker at the Cherokee Indians casino. Harrahs Cherokee Casino is seeking live poker to offer its patrons, and the vice chief seems to think that Governor Easley wont be agreeing to it at all.
