Recent events such as the Alpine Tavern raid by Oregon authorities to quell a poker game have left commentators in a quandary as to the legal justification of shutting down poker in the area. It turns out that Oregon law, according to the Oregon Criminal Code, holds poker playing that involves making bets in public is illegal. But, if the counties that the events take place in say it is okay, the cops wont bother any games that go on.
