Colorado Poker Players Trump Charges
In April of last year over fifty SWAT team members burst into the Guadala Jarra restaurant in Palmer Lake, arresting two dozen poker players and charging them with gambling related crimes. Included in the mix of those arrested and charged were Al Karn, a former police chief, and Trish Flake, a Palmer Lake town council member. The parties involved were shocked by the enormous use of force for dealing with a crime that is a misdemeanor.

Poker glossary:
- RIDER BACK (TM) - A brand of playing cards that feature a bicycle rider on the back of the cards. Often used in home games. Compare: BEE No. 92.
- STEAM - Playing wildly, calling and raising a lot, because one is upset. Compare: ON TILT.
- UNDER THE GUN - The position that has to act first in a round of betting.
- FLUSH - A poker hand consisting of five cards all one suit.
- POCKET ROCKETS - In Hold'em, a pair of aces for hole cards.
- TOURNAMENT - A highly structured game involving potentially dozens of tables where all participants pay an entry fee and obtain a fixed number of chips. Once a tournament has started, additional players may not enter. As the game progresses players bust out and are eliminated until only one winner remains.
