Tunica Is Poker Town For Ten Days
Tunica, Mississippi is hosting two separate poker events from the two biggest names in poker tournaments, the World Poker Tour and the World Series of Poker, in the very near future. Starting Thursday, January 19th, the Gold Strike World Poker Opens ten grand main event will begin, part of the World Poker Tour. The Gold Strike has been in full swing since January 9th, but poker enthusiasts were already in place by then, participating as early as January 5th in the Jack Binion World Series of Poker Circuit.
The Jack Binion event kicked off at the Grand Casino Tunica and will run through the 23rd, culminating in a ten grand event of its own with the no limit Texas Holdem show on January 24th…

Poker slang:
- KICKER TROUBLE - Not having as high a kicker as an opponent.
- KICKER - In hands containing pairs and trips, the highest card not matched. In draw games, sometimes a card kept for deception purposes.
- LATE BLIND - In addition to "regular" blinds, some games allow a player (particularly a new one) to post a blind bet in return for the right to enter the game immediately and act last on the first betting round. The amount of the blind is determined by house rules, usually somewhere between the last blind and double the last blind. It is frequently a LIVE BLIND.
- LATE POSITION - For a particular betting round, a player who does not have to act until most of the other players have acted.
- SHARK - A good/crafty player often posing as a fish early in the game.
- LAY ODDS - To give favorable odds to an opponent.
