Stars turn out for Lidle’s poker tournament
Poker pro Annie Duke, the winner of the 2004 Tournament of Champions, will be starring in her own television show. The poker show, dubbed "Annie Duke Takes on the World," will be broadcast on GSN, the Network for Games, beginning on May 1st. Duke’s show will feature four amateur poker players competing against one another while she provides viewers with expert commentary and insight into their gameplay.

The World Series of Poker has been around for thirty-six years, and they have decided it is time to hire a commissioner. They did not have to look far, adding the role and duties of commissioner of the World Series of Poker to the plate of Jeffery Pollack, the vice president of Sports and Entertainment for Harrahs Operating Company, Inc, which is a subsidiary of Harrahs Entertainment. GSN, the Game Show Network, has long been the place for games and television to meet in an interactive format, and it looks as if they are continuing the tradition with Annie Duke Takes On The World. The show will pit poker pro Annie Duke against amateur players, who will fight it out to play one on one with Duke.
During the event Duke and co host Regan Burns, from Oblivious and Titus, will give players tips as well as taunts as they play, getting them ready for the showdown with the woman poker champion. Monday, May 1st will be the day to catch the show, which will run for one hour from 9 to 10 PM Easter Time…
With some places cracking down on poker in all its forms, the activity in other places suggests that 2006 will still see plenty of No Limit Texas Holdem and other poker tournaments and events used to raise money for charity. A recent ruling in Texas stated that Poker Runs were considered gambling and thus illegal in that state, keeping the traditional charity runs from occurring.On Sunday, January 29th the Sinai Mens Associates will be hosting a No Limit Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament to raise money for the Men’s Associates Patient Activity Fund. The fund is designed to help cover the costs of entertainment programs for Sinai patients and their families, as well as social and recreational events…
