Steve Paul-Ambrose Wins WPT PokerStars Caribbean Adventure
After almost six hours of play, interrupted for fifty minutes by a power outage, Canada’s Steve Paul-Ambrose emerged victorious Tuesday at the World Poker Tour’s (WPT) PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, held at the Atlantis casino and resort in the Bahamas. For his efforts, he took home $1,363,100 and a $25,500 entry to the WPT Championship.
It was a wild ride at the final table for Paul-Ambrose, who started the day second in chips. On the very first hand, he laid a bad beat on Aurangzeb Sheikh, when his pocket sevens turned into a set against Sheikh’s pocket Aces…

Poker terminology:
- WHITE BLACKBIRD - A hand so astonishingly rare as to be unworthy of the opponents' consideration, e.g., being dealt a pat royal flush in 5-card draw.
- TOP PAIR - In flop games, having a hole card that matches the highest card on the board.
- PASS - Opposite of bet. To check, if checked to. To fold, if bet to.
- ROYAL FLUSH - An ace-high straight flush, the best possible hand in regular poker.
- PAT - Holding or being dealt a pat hand. "I'm pat" would mean "I don't want to draw any cards.
- THIRD STREET - In Stud, the third card dealt to each player.
