Poker players converge at Texas Hold ‘Em tournament
The Texas Hold ‘Em craze gets serious this weekend when more than 500 players are expected to converge on Cocoa Beach. When the smoke clears on Sunday evening, only one will advance to the Travel Channel’s World Poker Tour finals in Reno, Nev.
“We’ve got some really strong players coming in,” says Bob Danoff, founder and president of Final Table Tour, which started last summer in Brevard County. “Some of these guys have won 13, 14 times, and they’ll be getting extra chips.”
The showdown is at the Cocoa Beach Holiday Inn, which has been drawing between 60 and 110 players…

Poker argot:
- FACE CARD - A jack, queen or king (a card with a face on it, not joker).
- POCKET ROCKETS - In Hold'em, a pair of aces for hole cards.
- SIXTH STREET - The sixth card dealt in 7-card stud.
- BLUFF - To make a bet or raise with a poor hand, in hope that the remaining active player(s) will fold.
- RACE - In tournaments it is sometimes convenient to remove all lower-denomination chips from play, as the remaining players' stacks tend to grow. Small chips are converted to larger chips and any odd chips are "raced off" in the following way: each player with odd chips places them in front of his stack and is dealt one card for each chip. Highest card (rank and suit) takes all the small chips and converts them to higher-denomination chips.
- IN - Still eligible to win the pot. "I'm in" is often spoken as one adds chips to the pot, calling.
