Poker is a game of skill which is acquired through practice. The trouble is that no online casino can recreate tournament conditions in practice mode. Unlike online casinos games such as roulette or blackjack where you play against the dealer, poker involves playing against other online casino players. Casino poker language:

  • CAP - To cap the betting is to make the last permitted raise in a round.
  • OPENER - The player who opens the betting, especially in draw poker. A hand may have no openers, in which case it is PASSED OUT, i.e., new hands are dealt.
  • FULL OF - Describes a full house. "Fives full of queens" is 5-5-5-Q-Q.
  • OVERPAIR - In Hold'em, a pair in the hole that is larger than any community card on the board.
  • NICKEL - Five dollars, usually represented by a red casino check.
  • SHORT-STACKED - Playing with a only a small amount of money, thus limiting one's risk and reward.
