Poker Retail Slumps This Year
For the past few Christmas time seasons the sale of everything poker saw a fantastic growth, and retailers savvy enough to get in on the market made a killing. As those retailers on the fringe of the wave entered the poker card/ poker chipset/ poker table market, they may have to settle for breaking even this Christmas.
While the popularity of poker on TV, social businesses like restaurants and clubs, online and in home games continues to grow, chip sets and felt table covers are being discounted and moved to the back in stores like Target and Walgreens. It would seem that those most interested in building a basic poker supply have already gotten all the chips and cards they need, and the fever is cooling off, slowly returning to the niche poker player market….

- BIG SLICK - In Texas Hold'em, hole cards of A-K, suited or not.
- RUNNER-RUNNER - A hand made using both of the last two cards dealt.
- OVER - A term used in describing two pair or a full house. "Kings over tens" means two pair, kings and tens. "Jacks over", also "Jacks up" describes a hand that is two pair: Jacks with an unspecified lower pair. Also used to describe a full house, distinguishing the three of a kind from the pair. The hand J-J-J-A-A could be described as "Full house, Jacks over Aces".
- POT - The total amount of money bet so far in a hand.
- OVERCALL - To call a bet after one or more players already called.
- POCKET ROCKETS - In Hold'em, a pair of aces for hole cards.
