Caesars Palace opens poker room after sitting out for 16 years
LAS VEGAS Caesars Palace is betting 12 (M) Million dollars on the popularity of poker. That’s the cost of a plush new 30-table poker room the Las Vegas Strip resort just opened.
The resort’s return to poker after 16 years comes complete with 11 original LeRoy Neiman art works depicting almost 40 years of Caesars Palace history.
Caesars is now owned by World Series of Poker owner Harrah’s Entertainment - which held most of that marquee tournament this year at the Rio hotel-casino.
The Caesars Palace room has another six-thousand square feet…

Poker dictionary:
- WORLD SERIES OF POKER - A series of several different poker games with relatively large buy-ins, culminating in a $10,000 buy-in no-limit Hold'em tournament, the winner of which is crowned the World Poker Champion. Sponsored by Binion's Horseshoe Club in Las Vegas.
- JOKER - A 53rd card in the deck, distinct from the others, used as a wild card or as a BUG.
- BUNNY - An eight. So named because one can easily draw "rabbit ears" above the numeral 8, "paws" in the middle and "feet" at the bottom. (Do this only at home, and not on cards that will be used for play.)
- HOOK - A Jack. So named because the "J" resembles a hook.
- HOYLE - Edmund Hoyle (1769-?) was the authoritative source for rules of card games. Hoyle is to card rules as Webster is to word definitions.
- HIGH-LOW SPLIT - Forms of poker in which the pot is split between the best hand and best lowball hand.
