Documentary exposes poker’s darker side
Swayed by the glamorous image of poker portrayed on the TV tournament programs, a lot of guys - many college-aged - aspire to become professional players. Every one of them should be required to watch “Poker Bustouts,” an acerbic, darkly humorous new documentary about the ugly underside of poker.

Useful poker information:
- STAKE - The amount of a player's BUY-IN, or the amount of money they are willing to play with in a given session. Compare: BANKROLL.
- ROLLED UP - In seven-card stud, being dealt three of a kind in the first three cards.
- WHEEL - A-2-3-4-5. Usually discussed in the context of lowball where it is the best possible hand. Can also refer to a 5-high straight in high games. Also: BICYCLE.
- DEAD MAN'S HAND - Generically: two pair, aces and eights. Specifically: the black aces, black eights and nine of diamonds. The hand Wild Bill Hickok was holding when he was shot to death.
- READ - To determine whether an opponent has a good, medium or bad hand by observing his personal behavior. An inexact science.
- DEALER'S CHOICE - In home games, a rule that permits the dealer to name which poker game to be played that hand. Often limited to selecting from a list provided.
