Students host charity poker tournament
Students and faculty of the College of Business will host a fund-raising poker tournament to help aid Hurricane Katrina victims on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Bone Student Center Brown Ballroom. Meredith Downes, associate professor in the College of Business, said she came up with the idea of a poker tournament in one of her classes.

Poker jargon:
- LOOSE - Playing more hands than the norm. Antonym: TIGHT.
- TO GO - The current betting level, as in "$20 to go" meaning every player must contribute $20 (total) or drop. A $10 raise would then make the pot "$30 to go".
- STRAIGHT FLUSH - A hand consisting of 5 cards in sequence and the same suit.
- WORLD SERIES OF POKER - A series of several different poker games with relatively large buy-ins, culminating in a $10,000 buy-in no-limit Hold'em tournament, the winner of which is crowned the World Poker Champion. Sponsored by Binion's Horseshoe Club in Las Vegas.
- BRODERICK CRAWFORD - In Hold'em, hole cards of 10-4. From the 1950s TV series "Highway Patrol", starring Broderick Crawford.
- FAVORITE - Before all the cards are dealt, a hand that figures to be the winner. Ant: UNDERDOG.
