North Dakota Poker A Possibility
Earlier this year North Dakota State Representative Jim Kasper won half the battle in getting legislation passed to legalize online poker in the state, as well as setting up some form of quality control.
His proposal passed in the states House, but was opposed in the state Senate by an overwhelming majority. Kasper has not given up, and is ready to go to bat for legislation he believes will bring a windfall in tax revenue to North Dakota.
While he has played his cards close to the vest concerning his next steps when speaking with the press, he has been more forthcoming with industry officials…

Useful poker terms:
- LOOSE - Playing more hands than the norm. Antonym: TIGHT.
- S&M - Sklansky & Malmuth. Generally refers to the ideas and algorithms published by these two authors. When used in a 7-card stud context, often refers to "7 Card Stud For Advanced Players", and when used in a Hold'em context, often refers to "Texas Hold'em For Advanced Players".
- BUTTON CHARGE - A periodic fee paid by whoever is the button, perhaps every 20 minutes or 30 minutes. Constitutes part or all of the HOUSE CUT.
- GUT SHOT - A draw to an inside straight, as in 2-3-4-6.
- LATE BLIND - In addition to "regular" blinds, some games allow a player (particularly a new one) to post a blind bet in return for the right to enter the game immediately and act last on the first betting round. The amount of the blind is determined by house rules, usually somewhere between the last blind and double the last blind. It is frequently a LIVE BLIND.
- KICKER TROUBLE - Not having as high a kicker as an opponent.
