Poker has gone mainstream in a big way, and the third season of the World Poker Tour highlights just how big the poker phenomenon has become. With record crowds at every venue, and therefore with ever-larger amounts of prize money being awarded to the champion, the WPT events showcased in the Best of Season 3 are hotly contested.

Casino poker language:
- ON THE COME - A situation where the player does not have a complete hand but hopes to make one if the right cards come up.
- BOAT - A FULL HOUSE, three of a kind and a pair.
- HOUSE RULE - Rules and interpretations (e.g., use of wild cards, or rules on having to show beaten hands) that are specific to an establishment or even tables within the establishment.
- TRIPS - Three of a kind. In Hold'em the term SET is used when two of the three cards are hole cards.
- LIMIT POKER - A poker game wherein the amount to be bet is fixed, or at most variable within a prescribed minimum and maximum. Ant.: NO-LIMIT POKER.
- CRYING CALL - A call made with little chance of ultimately winning, but marginally better than an immediate fold.
