Poker Tournament To Help Troops
This past spring Park City was witness to a huge amateur poker tournament, sponsored by Wichita’s Amateur Poker League. The League announced Saturday it will repeat the efforts nationwide in support of our troops.
There will be at least 12 large-scale tournaments in cities including Dallas, St Louis and as far south as Miami; the first event, however, is going to be close to home as the tour kicks off Dec. 10 and 11 in Wichita.
The Coalition to Support America’s Heroes, a group that helps disabled soldiers returning from Iraq, will be the organization to receive the proceeds from the tour.
Former Wichita Mayor Bob Knight held a press conference Saturday morning at Century II Convention Center to announce the details.

- BOAT - A FULL HOUSE, three of a kind and a pair.
- SIDE POT - When an active player runs out of money during the course of a hand, the remaining players participate in a second or SIDE POT for the rest of the hand. Additional side pots are possible if several players run out of money at different points in a hand.

- OVERPAIR - In Hold'em, a pair in the hole that is larger than any community card on the board.
