In South Florida greyhound racetrack owners were excited to be able to offer poker tournaments to eager players, giving them a chance at a jackpot worth hundreds of dollars by paying a single entry fee. Poker terminology:
- BUTTON CHARGE - A periodic fee paid by whoever is the button, perhaps every 20 minutes or 30 minutes. Constitutes part or all of the HOUSE CUT.
- BIG BOBTAIL - An open-ended 4-card straight flush.
- NICKEL - Five dollars, usually represented by a red casino check.
- KICKER TROUBLE - Not having as high a kicker as an opponent.
- COLD CALL - Calling both a bet and raise at the same time, as opposed to calling a bet then later calling a raise made after the call.
- ALL-IN - To have all of one's chips in the pot. A player who is all-in cannot be forced out of the pot by more betting, but is only eligible to win that portion of the pot he has contributed to. Generally, a SIDE POT is created each time a player is all-in.
