Police raid folds poker game

The e-mail ad promised local poker aficionados the chance to win a $12,000 purse and a trip to the Foxwoods casino in Connecticut to play for even bigger money. But Wednesday night, city police swarmed a refurbished warehouse in South Baltimore, shut the game down and charged 80 players with illegal gambling. Poker argot:

  • COLD CALL - Calling both a bet and raise at the same time, as opposed to calling a bet then later calling a raise made after the call.
  • SPLIT [THE POT] - To split the pot between two or more players. Related term: QUARTER.
  • ANTE - A small bet all players are required to make before a hand is dealt. Not all games have an ante. Related terms: BLIND, FORCED BET.
